Project Title: Festival Production Management Training in Antwerp, Belgium

The Festival Production Management Training, hosted by deSingel International Art Campus, is a new format of The Festival Academy, an initiative of the European Festivals Association (EFA). It focuses especially on production management in terms of realising and implementing the vision of the artistic director. The training looks at the practical side of this process, with special attention given to working with artists. Participant will meet and exchange with experienced production managers and artists, including set designers, light designers, conductors, choir leaders etc. The training is set up as a long-term programme which explores all phases of producing an artistic work. Participants will also become part of the Academy Alumni Network of The Festival Academy, a global ever-growing network of young festival makers, allowing for the development of new cooperation and broader networks.

Project Title: Preparation for the 2nd edition of the Valletta Film Festival through attendance at the Tribeca International Film Festival, New York

Attendance at the Tribeca Film Festival in New York to help with the film selection and programming for the 2nd edition of the Valletta Film Festival (VFF), organised by The Film Grain Foundation. The applicant will be observing and learning about the organizational aspects such as: marketing, advertising, social media and publications, the curating of the various festival sections, organization of side events including talks, workshops, master classes and social events, the use of technology, etc. Furthermore, attendance as an accredited professional offers opportunity to attend meetings with industry professionals that could potentially be invited to submit their work or attend VFF 2016 as speakers, guests or jury. Through creating contacts and relationships with established film and festival workers, the applicant aims to increase the profile of the VFF internationally as well as create opportunites for exchanging knowledge and expertise. In light of the Small Nations Film Conference that the applicant is currently organising, meeting with other film festival organisers and film institutes and companies will also help publicise this event.

Project Title: Musical Direction and Composing Internship at “Chickenshed,” London

The internship is a Theatre in Education (TIE) project where the applicant will be performing, composing and musically directing theatrical productions within the London based company “Chickenshed,” for the 2016/2017 season. With constant mentorship by Mr. Dave Carey (Creative Development Director and Resident Composer at Chickenshed), the applicant will take part in outreach projects, working with socially marginalized participants, such as young offenders, disabled children and refugees. The training there will also include further collaborations with professional sound engineers, recording studio managers, sound designers, vocal coaches, orchestrators, conductors and other composers.

Two month residency in the Welove Gallery situated in the cultural capital of Tainan in Taiwan, to create a series of audio works (both music and narrative based) in collaboration with the Taiwanese video artist Adrian Feng. - The production of video material - of produced songs, in the format of video clips/extended narratives created in collaboration with video artist Adrian Feng.
- The development of already existing music song sketches/ideas to be co worked with Adrian.
- The development of audio/text based material that extends on the applicant’s work as a dramaturg.
