Our speakers: 

Joanne Hefny

Joanne Hefny manages the Taxation Unit at Business First which provides assistance to businesses. She was first employed with the Ministry for Finance in 1995 as a VAT Inspector progressing to Assistant Director Debt Management and Director Operations within the VAT Department.  During Malta’s Presidency of the Council of the EU, Joanne also formed part of the VAT team which presided over the discussions of the Working Party on Tax Questions.

Andrew Buhagiar

Andrew Buhagiar is the Assistant Director (Taxpayer Service) within the Office of the Commissioner. Taxpayer Services provides assistance to citizens and business.  He was engaged with the VAT Department in 2001 and was posted in the VAT System Administration Section.  He, then served within the VAT, IT section and eventually in the Revenue IT section when the merger took place. 

Rita Falzon

As Head of Funding, Rita Falzon is responsible for the overall management of Arts Council Malta’s funding portfolio. As part of the Funding and Strategy Directorate, she is responsible for coordinating the yearly planner, the evaluation process and the monitoring of projects. The role entails heading the Funding team who administer the funding programmes and initiatives to support the cultural and creative sectors.
