Project title: Bad Dad North America Tour 2017

Chris Dingli will be touring his one-man show in North America. Bad Dad is a semi-autobiographical show that chronicles the trials and tribulations of becoming a first-time father. Bad Dad will be performed in three venues: the Second City theatre in Chicago, the Panasonic Theatre in Toronto and the People’s Improv Theater in New York City. This will be the first time that a Maltese performance will be presented at any of these spaces, thereby increasing the team’s visibility within the international market, exposing their work to new audiences. Dingli would like to establish long-term collaborations with these venues to act as a vehicle for future presentation of other projects.

Project title: Launching Vengeance and Petrichor: A Maltese Board Games Booth at Essen Spiel 2017

Gordon Calleja will be launching two board games: “Vengeance,” designed by Gordon Calleja himself and “Petrichor,” designed by David Chircop, at the board games festival “Essen Spiel” in Germany. The applicants will also be running a Maltese Board Games Booth at the Essen Spiel festival, showcasing the games being launched, along with previous board games made by local board game designers, while sneak previews of upcoming titles in the form of playable prototypes will also be presented. Audiences will be able to play the games while also having the opportunity to meet Maltese games designers. The games will also be launched by the partner publishers in various languages.

Project title: Maltese choral singing on the Camino Del Santiago

The St. Paul Choral Society will perform choral music in three venues that form part of the world-famous Camino del Santiago. The choir will sing in Burgos Cathedral, Leon Cathedral and Santiago de Compostela Cathedral. The programmes will include choral works ranging from the 17th to the 20th Century, and include works by Maltese composers Francesco Azzopardi, Carmelo Scerri, Carmelo Pace and Hugo Agius Muscat. The works to be presented have already been successfully performed in Malta as well as in venues in England, Austria and France. The choir plans to continue with this international collaboration programme in the same vein in the years to come.

Project title: Big Friends Guggen Musik Malta, UAE Tour 2017

The Big Friends Guggen Musik Malta, UAE Tour 2017 is part of the Band’s plan to expose Maltese music specially arranged for this Band, on an international platform, and to give band members, particularly the younger performers, the opportunity to perform outside Maltese shores. The travelling party will be composed of a total of 17 people. The band will perform in six of the seven federation of Emirates during the United Arab Emirates National Day Festivities 2017. There will be one performance/parade per day in the six emirates being visited, starting from Dubai (29th November), Abu Dhabi (30th November), Ras Al Khaimah (1st December), Sharjah (2nd December), Ajman (3rd December) and Fujairah (4th December).

Project Title: Performing at the Royal Albert Hall, London

The work which will be exported to London is a dance choreography which has been selected to perform at the Royal Albert Hall as part of Dance Proms 2017. The piece involves 14 dancers aged between 10 and 16, and it was originally performed in Italy as part of a festival and in Malta as part of the premiere to Malta’s 1st YAGP finalist performance. The piece was chosen amongst hundreds of applicants and will be performed as part of a celebration of dance amongst international dance schools. This opportunity will provide the young dancers the chance to experience performing on such a prestigious stage and encourage them to build relationships with other international dancers.

Project title: Gaulitanus Choir Concert-Tour - Lombardia (Italy)

The Gaulitanus Choir will be performing in three significant venues in Milan and Bergamo in December 2017. They will be performing at the Cattedrale di Sant’Alessandro; Bergamo’s historic Duomo and principal church – where the choir will animate the sacred liturgy. They will perform at the Chiesa di Santa Maria Immacolata delle Grazie, another landmark in Bergamo and at the Basilica di San Marco in the centre of Milan. The choir will be presenting compositions from its repertoire and will specifically also include Christmas works from different countries as well as Maltese ones. The historic venues selected for this tour are highly prestigious ones, and their sacred choral tradition will undoubtedly offer a huge stimulus to those involved in the concert-tour.

Project title: Maltese Literature in Australia

Loranne Vella will be touring Australia in 2018 with her novels "It-Triloġija tal-Fiddien" (co-written with Simon Bartolo), "Magna Mater" and "Rokit". She will be presenting her novels during a series of literary evenings about Maltese Literature in Australia in three different cities: Sydney, Melbourne and Adelaide. The literary evenings are being organised with the help of Mr. Emanuel Camilleri, President of the Maltese Community Council in Sydney, NSW, and Mr. Frank Scicluna, Hon. Consul for Malta in Adelaide, South Australia. Ms. Nathalie Gatt at "Viva Malta" radio programme, Mr. Lawrence Dimech from "The Voice of the Maltese" newsletter and Ms. Rita O’Dwyer – the Consulate of Malta in NSW will help promote the literary evenings.

Project title: Star of Strait Street

The cast of “Star of Strait Street” have been invited to form part of the Applecart Theatre European Festival in London in November 2018. "The Star of Strait Street" is a new musical play, based on a true-life love story from WW2. Singer Christina Ratcliffe travelled to The Morning Star in Valletta to entertain the troops. Staying in Malta throughout the war, Christina was awarded the British Empire Medal for her services to the RAF, and became known as ‘Christina of George Cross Island’.
