This project takes students to the world of Foley and explains how this is integrated in film to create realistic effects. During the project a series of talks, workshops and presentations linked to animation, cartoons and Foley will be delivered. Project Title: Macbeth Uncovered

This project consists in making Shakespeare’s Macbeth more accessible and enjoyable to students through performance and audio-visual media. This project focuses on inclusivity and on making classical works more accessible to students with learning difficulties. Through film and film-making, students of the college will learn how to express their creativity while working in a group.

Project Title: Daqqa t’Id

Students of Savio College will be in discussion with people who have physical disabilities in order to understand better the difficulties they encounter on a daily basis. Students will then build a robotic arm to be fitted onto a wheelchair and used as the main prop for a short film which will feature a day in the life of a disabled person. Scripting, music composition, filming, acting and editing will involve various students at different stages.

Project Title: Filming Maltese Legend – An Art and Culture Project

This project aims to create awareness about stories and cultural notions that have shaped our national collective memory through the creation of a short film. Students will be involved directly in the creation of a film while being given a basic toolkit with which to view films in a critical manner. Students will work on audio-visual storytelling, formative elements of light, mise-en-scene, shooting, editing and acting. Critical thinking with regards to film production is at the core of this project.

This project will focus on contrasts as expressed through the media of music and art. The multi-sensory and tangible experience proposed will assist the students attending the resource centre to explore a world which is remote to them due to learning and physical disability. Students will participate through hands-on sessions where musical instruments, vibrations, sound textures and artistic media will help them to express themselves in a creative way.

Project Title: Dancing Texts

This project involves Year 6 students at Stella Maris College in collaboration with the national dance company ŻfinMalta. This project combines three academic subjects - English, Science and ICT - and links them to dance, photography and film. Particular phrases within the English language will be translated into dance and students will be encouraged to come up with their own movement expression. Photography and film will be used to document the whole process.

This project consists of a series of practical sessions leading to a performance during which students will be having their own stalls in which they will perform sketches based on Shakespeare’s Comedy of Errors. The project will involve acting, scriptwriting, arts and crafts, props making, puppetry and improvisation.

Through this project, students will create their own short film. The disciplines addressed through this project are scriptwriting, film direction, filming, editing, acting and sound engineering. Students will be actively involved in the project - from the scriptwriting and research phase to the building of props and costume design. The film will also feature in the next edition of the Valletta Film Festival.

This project will focus on the students’ psychological and psychosocial development in relation to their bodies and the concept of masculinity. Drama and movement will be used to allow the students to explore their bodies in a creative way leading to self-acceptance. The creative process will also help students to build their self-esteem and expressivity. Some of the students will take part in a performance that sums up the whole project.

Students will also learn the basics of various computer programmes which will be used to support the technological aspect of this project.
