Project title: Translating the collection of short stories “Having said goodnight” by Pierre Mejlak into Serbian using English as a bridge language

Vesna Stamenkovic will be translating the collection of short stories “Having said goodnight” by Pierre Mejlak into Serbian using English as a bridge language. Mejlak won the European Union Prize for Literature in 2014 and he also received numerous other awards, including five National Book Awards, the Commonwealth Essay Writing Award and the Sea of Words European Short Story Award. A number of his short stories have been translated into English, French, Catalan, Portuguese, Serbian, Arabic, Spanish, Indonesian and Italian and were read at numerous literary festivals around the world. Treci Trg will be publishing the translated book and "Cigoja stampa" will be distributing the publication in time for the Belgrade International Poetry and Book Festival held every year in Belgrade. Along with other titles, this translation will also be significantly promoted in book fairs in Frankfurt and Zagreb, where Treci Trg annually sends a number of publications to be promoted by their partner “Cigoja stampa“ and other distributers, such as Bookbridge, Delfi and Makart.

Project title: The Other Face

Irene Mangion, a qualified translator, will be translating the novel “The Other Face” from Maltese into English. Irene has been in the business of translating for nearly twenty years and has translated several literary works from Maltese into English. Irene and Gorg have already collaborated in the past, on the translation of poems, as well as on the opera “Belt il-Bniedem” (City of Humanity I). Editing and proofreading of the final text will be done by Horizons Malta/Outlook Coop. Horizons is a local publishing house that prides itself on a growing selection of books by well-known authors. Pheasant Run Publications in Florida, United States, has expressed its interest in publishing the novel. This publishing house will also make sure the novel is available on Amazon, Barnes and Noble, Books-A-Million, as well as in US and European bookstores. The publisher believes there is an interest in the US for novels with a Mediterranean flavour and unconventional style.

FISH, the awarded and most translated poetry book of Immanuel Mifsud will be translated by Stergia Kavvalou and published for the first time in Greek by Vakxikon Publications, a publishing house who are specialized in foreign poetry of contemporary poets. The book by Immanuel Mifsud will be distributed in Greece and Cyprus, in e-shops, book festivals and in the following book fairs: the Athens Book Fair and the Thessaloniki International Book Fair.

The Iscariot Field (L-Ghalqa tal-Iskarjota), a novel by Alfred Sant will be translated by Abdelrehim Youssef Ramadan into Arabic. Walid Nabhan will be editing the translation, while Ar. Ali Rashed will be doing the proofreading for the final Arabic version of the translated work. Sefsafa Publishing will take care of the interior and cover design for the Arabic edition of the book. Sefsafa Publishing will be presenting the book at main Arab book fairs like the Cairo International Book Fair, the Abu Dhabi Book Fair and the Sharjah Book Fair.

Translation and publishing of the poetry collections "Penelope Waits" and "Fish" by Immanuel Mifsud from English to Croatian. The translated book will be distributed to book stores and libraries in Bosnia and Herzegovina and Croatia. The translated publication will also be presented at book fairs in these countries: Sarajevo, Banja Luka and Tuzla. The publishing house will be inviting the author as their guest at the International Poetry Festival in Brcko and will also be organizing presentations by the translator and the editor.
