Project Title: Translation of Glen Calleja’s poetry collection “Outstaring Truth” into Polish and Romanian
Amount Awarded: €3,000
“Outstaring Truth” is a collection of poetry from the FAWWARA cancer project; an attempt at documenting direct experiences of cancer in poetic forms. The works were originally published in the Maltese language in "kull flgħaxija kif mal-għabex tnin u tmut saħħet il-jum", which were then translated into English. Most of these were presented to Romanian audiences during Glen’s reading tour in Romania between the 29th September and 9th October 2015, part financed by the Cultural Export Fund. Glen is collaborating with Casa de Editură Max Blecher, who will be taking care of all the logistical details relating to the design and printing of the publication and the organisational details of the promotional tour in Romania. He is also collaborating with Dr Bazarnik, a respected scholar and a leading translator in Krakow, Poland, where she lectures in the postgraduate programme in Literary Translation.
