Reference number: CC 101-FN 1891
Project Title: Our Island: personal accounts of protecting refugees in Malta

The project will therefore invite directly involved individuals to write about their experiences, thoughts and significant moments. The main aim is to document important years in Malta’s social and community history by gathering informal and personal accounts from those persons who experienced it first hand. The project’s collaborators will include those persons working with front-line organisations, Government officials, refugees, media entities, international entities and EU entities. Two Memory Sessions will be organised in order to stimulate memories, and a publication written in a personal and informal manner will be made publicly available in bookstores and disseminated through academic and organisation networks. The Foundation believes that the memory process itself will heal past wounds and show us the paths we lived, in the hope that these will help us reshape our current and future paths, whilst being more effective in our current and future efforts at protecting refugees.
