"Layers" is an interdisciplinary artistic project by Ars Vitae Ensemble. Composer Mariella Cassar-Cordina, Author Immanuel Mifsud and Artist Victor Agius will collaborate and dialogue with the heritage of St Agatha Catacombs in Rabat Malta. The Ars Vitae Ensemble will also include Schola Cantorum Jubilate choir, percussionist Renzo Spiteri and marble sculptor Raymond Bonello and ceramist Paul Haber.

This project strives to enhance the artists’ artistic practice, and nurture new talent, with the belief that artists can provide opportunities for other artists, and that their creative skills can be translated into producing and directing talent. The main source of inspiration is St Agatha’s Catacombs in Rabat, Malta.

The title is connected with the multi layers of earthy materials, segments of sedimentary rock and the thin layers of intonaco (fresco slacked lime) on which Malta's earliest Paleo Christian Frescoes are painted. This evokes a sense of artistic historical empathy with these visual features. It also makes direct reference to the artistic concept were the multiple strata of the music composition become one of the main elements of the work, which is then intertwined with the artistic installations, forming a multilayering of voices and visuals.
