Supported by the Creative Communities Fund

Soċjetà Santa Marija and Banda Re Ġorġ V

The project consists of a series of Holy Week activities. During ‘La Semana Santa’ at Mqabba, Spanish and Maltese traditions are entwined and various local works of art are exhibited. The garments of the statues brought over from Naples are the creations of volunteers who used ganutell and painted on drapes threaded in gold and filigree.

The project also features a concert by band members, during which traditional Maltese funeral marches will be accompanied by Flamenco Dancers from Alegria Malta Academy and animated by the band club’s drama group. The whole experience aims to contribute to the community’s legacy and to give the band club more visibility within the local community. The final product will be documented through a variety of photos and videos.
