A project partially funded through the Creative Communities Fund managed by Arts Council Malta

The aim is to partner with members of the community to turn a public space in Kirkop, which is currently being underutilised, to an effective learning space. This space will enable children and all those young at heart to leave their creative mark and experience new opportunities through play. Participants will be mentored by a team of community support workers and volunteers led by an artist. The play structures will be designed by the children, together with the artist and other community members. The same procedure will follow to design the surrounding exterior walls and surrounding fence. The project will involve community walks and recruiting outreach exercises, design days and implementation workshops with two artists. Apart from being creative in artistic expression, the project aims to address environmental issues by teaching how to reuse, and recycle unwanted material into a play structure. In this regard, other parallel initiatives including recycling initiatives will be organised to collect the base material for the structures.

This project is being held in collaboration with LEAP South Region.
