Arts Council Malta in collaboration with the Embassy of Malta in Vienna, took part in the 'EUNIC Music Festival’ on 27th April 2024.
The annual EUNIC music festival provides a framework for intercultural connections between cultural institutes and international musicians. This year's program revolved around the genre of jazz and was formed by musicians from 17 different countries. The festival's four evening concerts were accompanied by special events, such as films, lectures and performances. The festival also explored new trends in the European jazz improvisation scene.
The Ġużè Camilleri Quintett represented Malta with their performance “Anecdotes of Maltese Early Jazz”. The performance consisted of an audio-visual show that delved into the history of Jazz in Malta and captivated the audience in Vienna. The performed music consisted of original compositions by Maltese jazz pioneers, mainly by Malta's first jazz trio, arranged for quintet by Dominic Galea.

The evening was closed off with performances from Borna Pehar (piano, Croatia), Neža Okorn (vocals, Slovakia), and special guest Chris Kasprzyk (saxophone, Poland)

EUNIC members, coordinated by the Czech Cultural Institute, organised a Long Night of Literature, in Vienna, Austria, based on the positive feedback from the first event held the previous fall.
Elena Cardona read four poems at the EUNIC Long Night of Literature - Vienna 2023, from her poetry collection Meta Tlaqt lil Adam: ‘Jien’, ‘Ħajjiet tal-Ħalib’, ‘Keffa’, ‘Fl-Art tal-Larinġ u l-Lumi’. She also presented an English translation of the poems written by Irene Mangion.
The Long Night of Literature took place on Friday, 13 October 2023, in 8 different cultural institutes or partner institutions throughout Vienna, with the participation of 17 countries
A joint opening event took place in the evening, followed by three sessions of each 1.5 hrs. in different locations during which authors read their texts.

Long Night of Literature in Vienna 2022
On Friday October 21, 2022, the Czech Center in collaboration with EUNIC Vienna organized a round of readings in various cultural institutes in Vienna as part of the "Lange Nacht der Literatur", or “Long Night of Literature” to mark the Czech EU Council Presidency. The motto of the initiative was “Peace” and featured nine authors from nine countries.
After the official opening, Adrian Grima, who was representing Malta, gave a reading of four of his poems in Maltese. He spoke about the significance of peace and how poetry explores the humanness inside us.
He also spoke about the origins and development of the Maltese language and literature, which the audience particularly appreciated given that Maltese is the only official language of the European Union with Arabic origins. The session was chaired by, Mr Mojmír Jeřábek, director of the Czech Centre, and also featured Nicole Ertl, from the Malta Embassy in Vienna, who read German translations of Adrian's poems.

Maltese musicians perform at EUNIC MUSIKFEST 2020
EUNIC Austria held its third European Music Festival in 2020, which comprised of three musical events in three European cultural institutes. The festival was dedicated to "Multilateralism at work in Vienna". On the occasion of the 75th anniversary of the United Nations, they wished to highlight the important role of the European Union as a defender of rules-based effective multilateralism. Maltese musicians Angela Vella Zarb, Karl Galea and Oliver Degabriele performed a 45-minute Jazz set at the Italian Cultural Institute in Vienna.

On the 22nd of January 2020, the Maltese Embassy in Vienna started to officially represent Arts Council Malta in the EUNIC Vienna Cluster.
