Already in its fifth edition, the Young Audience Film Day and accompanying Young Audience Award will be held on May 8, 2016.

We are happy to announce that the three shortlisted films this year are: Miss Impossible (France), Girls Lost (Sweden) and Rauf (Turkey).

Malta will be hosting the Film Day and Awards for the fourth time. The Creative Europe Desk Malta hosted by the Culture Directorate will be organising this event, as part of the legacy of the European Film Awards which were held in Malta in 2012. The Creative Europe Desk Malta is happy to announce a new partnership with Eden Cinemas for the 2016 edition, as well as increased synergy and collaboration with the Valletta 2018 Foundation and Arts Council Malta, with a view towards increased audience participation and better promotion of European film.

Participating audiences (between 12 and 14-year-olds) from some 30 European countries and several cities will watch the three nominated films inside cinemas across Europe. Between each of the screenings, participants will have the opportunity to discuss the films with filmmakers and members of the national film industry.

The Young Audience Film Day is aimed at shared experiences: it is fun-packed day in which participants will watch and discuss films in the company of others and will also act as a film jury.

At the end of the day, young audience members from each participating city get to vote for their favourite film. Two young jury speakers will finally announce the national results via video conference during the awards ceremony in the evening; the ceremony is shown as a live broadcast on the EFA’s website.

Teachers, educators, parents and guardians are hereby invited to identify students and young teens who would like to participate in this full-day event, watch the three nominated films at Eden Cinemas, and vote for their favourite of three films!

The full event programme will be announced in due time prior to the event on May 8th.
