The European Union National Institutes of Culture (EUNIC) 2022 Film Festival will be held in Malta between Wednesday 12 October and Sunday 16 October 2022. EUNIC is a network of organisations involved in international cultural relations.

“Through the EUNIC Malta Cluster, we are working towards our engagement in international cultural relations, as stated in our National Cultural Policy and Strategy, which is being implemented by the Arts Council Malta,” stated Minister Bonnici.

Arts Council Malta, in collaboration with Aġenzija Żgħażagħ, will be supporting the participation of 7 short films in the EUNIC Film Festival, with the theme of sustainability. 

 


"This is also being done as part of the celebrations for 2022, which is the European Year for Youth. These seven short films are all produced by Maltese youths, thus further strengthening the importance, and fostering of youth engagement and proactiveness within the sector,” Minister Bonnici concluded.

The Co-Chair of the EUNIC Cluster Malta Erika Bernhard, Ambassador of Austria, underlined the importance of exchange on sustainability and thanked the Ministry for Foreign Affairs and Trade, the Ministry of Culture and Spazju Kreattiv for the excellent cooperation in the 2nd European film festival on sustainability. 

The Co-Chair of EUNIC, Ambassador of Italy Fabrizio Romano stated “The Italian Cultural Institute is honoured that together with the Embassy of Austria, is Co-chair of the EUNIC Cluster Malta, which was launched two years ago and is a cultural point of reference. Together with the other Institutions and representations, the aim of our contribution to EUNIC cluster is to foster the European culture in Malta and facilitate European cultural cooperation and representation with local cultural partners.”  

This festival, which has the support of the Ministry for Foreign European Affairs and Trade, will see the participation of the Embassies of Austria, France, Germany, Italy, Poland, Spain, United Kingdom and the Czech Republic, as well as the Alliance Française de Malte- Méditerranée, the Representation of the European Commission in Malta and Malta Arts Council in collaboration with Aġenzija Żgħażagħ.
