Parents of children under 16 who attended Cultural or Creative courses during 2019 can now apply for a tax deduction scheme of up to a maximum of €100 for each child. If the course was provided by an entity or individual recognised by Arts Council Malta, parents are entitled to claim a deduction against their chargeable income of up to a maximum of €100 for each child.

To claim this deduction please complete the appropriate form and send it by email to taxdoc@artscouncilmalta.org or by post to "Culture & Creative Courses", Arts Council Malta, TG Complex, Level 1, Brewery Street Mrieħel by not later than 27th February 2020.

The form can be downloaded from here or from www.cfr.gov.mt. If you are unsure of your course provider's valid SLC number, please verify directly with him/her.

For the purposes of this scheme, qualifying Cultural and Creative courses are courses in the following areas:  

  • the performing arts (theatre, dance and music),
  • the visual arts (fine arts, digital arts, photography, design, video, film, painting and sculpture),
  • crafts (traditional and contemporary),
  • media (TV, radio and other audiovisual) and
  • creative writing.
