Applications for Malta’s yearly national creative start up competition have opened

The search is on for Malta’s best creative start up to represent the country in the global creative business cup in Copenhagen this June. The Creative Business Cup, is regarded as the Olympics of creative start-ups and was launched in Malta by Culture Venture in 2021. Malta’s winner for 2022 was SORĠI - a start-up transforming disposed materials into public furniture led by Architect and Designer Anna Horvath. The lead partners of this year’s national competition are Malta Enterprise and Arts Council Malta, supported by the Malta Chamber.

The Creative Business Cup is a yearly global competition organised by the Creative Business Network and brings together 82 national winners in Copenhagen. It is a unique event for innovators who aim to change the world and impact the global economy through their own unique creative enterprise.

The Global competition will provide Malta’s creative startups with an international platform and unprecedented access to networks, experts and investors in the field.

Startups utilising creative skills in the production of a creative industry product or service or creative startups collaborating with other industries are eligible to apply. These include businesses in advertising, architecture, craft & artisanship, design, experience technologies, fashion, film, video & photography, health and biotechnology, gaming, gastronomy, leisure activities, music, performing arts, play & learn, publishing, radio & television, software and 3D printing maker and travel and leisure.

All finalists in Creative Business Cup Malta will pitch their business to a live jury and will receive follow-up support from one of the partnering organisations. Up to 3 finalists will also be entitled to receive a €1,500 award for creative business development from Arts Council Malta.

The winner from Malta, who will be announced during the National Finals will go on to represent Malta at the Creative Business Cup Global Finals in Copenhagen on the 5th of June. Malta next winner will join other national winners to pitch the business idea in front of an international live jury and will have the opportunity to meet inspiring speakers and investors from all over the world.
