KorMalta to team up with Jubilate Deo Choir for a special holiday season concert

The month of December means gearing up for the holiday season, and brings along with it various activities and events to get into the Christmas spirit.

In light of this, KorMalta, Malta’s very own national choir, will be producing a choral Christmas concert entitled Nativitas. During the concert, which will be held on the 13th of December at 7:30pm at the St Lawrence Collegiate Church in Birgu, the female sections of KorMalta and the male sections of the Cappella Gregoriana Jubilate Deo Choir will be teaming up to present a very special festive repertoire.

Nativitas will not consist of your typical run-of-the-mill Christmas concert – the female and male ensembles, together with the participation of horns and harp, promise to offer the public a deep atmosphere made of different but complementary sounds. The concert will consist of a musical itinerary ranging from Gregorian chant to a more contemporary repertoire. The audiences can expect a selection ranging from the Ave Maria and Salve Regina to Adeste Fideles and Veni, Veni, Emmanuel. The concert will be led by Riccardo Bianchi, Chorus Master for KorMalta, and Christopher Muscat, Chorus Master for the Cappella Gregoriana Jubilate Deo choir.

KorMalta is an initiative by Arts Council Malta within the Ministry for Justice, Culture and Local Government and is Malta’s first national choir. The Jubilate Deo Choir is widely regarded as one of Malta’s foremost choirs in the field of sacred music and is renowned for its refined interpretations of both standard and contemporary repertoires.

Entrance to Nativitas is free and no booking is required. Seating is on a first-come, first-served basis.
