Arts Council Malta and Aġenzija Żgħażagħ are launching the third edition of ARTIVISTI, aimed at supporting and inspiring young artists while providing them with a platform to create and produce, promoting active citizenship.

ARTIVISTI is a joint programme resulting from a cross-sectoral collaboration between Arts Council Malta and Aġenzija Żgħażagħ and aims at identifying some of the best young talent across the arts and providing them with the necessary training, mentoring and networking to further develop their creative potential. The programme exposes young artists to the discipline of Artivism through which artists can use their creativity to raise awareness and contribute to important debates, such as access to inclusive education, climate change, good governance and environmental, social and economic sustainability.

Selected artists will be awarded a package of benefits and opportunities for 18 months. These include a grant of €4,000 for their personal creative development, the services of a professional mentor to support them in their artistic career, participation in an artist-in-residency, and networking opportunities with other ‘Artivisti’. They will also become members of the Artivisti alumni community to support other upcoming artists in the forthcoming editions of the programme.

The collaboration between Arts Council Malta and Aġenzija Żgħażagħ brings together the implementation of the National Youth Policy and Arts Council Malta’s ongoing Strategy, with a particular focus on providing more opportunities for people to engage in creativity. Artivisti accompanies other empowerment programmes by Aġenzija Żgħażagħ such as Taħziz, Divergent Thinkers, and music training for young bandisti, which the Agency has been offering for the past years, giving young people further opportunities in the arts.

An information session about the grant will be held on the 24th March at noon on zoom.

Nominations will be received until 21st April 2021.
