Moving the conversation forward

Following a highly successful first round of conversations about the link between culture and well-being, Arts Council Malta is  organising a one-day forum, happening on the 22nd February 2024, which aims at pursuing this important discussion, focusing on the connections between artistic expression/engagement and well-being. The aim is now to delve deeper into the thematics, issues, and challenges already raised by the creative practitioners and healthcare professionals in order to consider the best solutions to maximise the benefits of the intersection between the arts, health and society which are interconnected facets of culture and well-being. This intersection contributes to personal fulfilment, mental and physical health, social and community cohesion, and overall societal health and well-being, namely a progressive society.

This day-long session will continue to highlight the relevance and the importance of connecting culture and well-being as enablers for change, transformation, and remedy on a holistic level. The forum will be divided into two sections: the first part will present a series of three panel discussions giving the space to local and international experts, hailing from different fields, to come together and discuss the main themes. The second part will focus on the proposal of aims and tangible actions which should follow in order to sustain the connection between culture and well-being.

The forum aims at bringing together health and social care professionals, artists and art therapists, cultural managers, researchers, educators, policy makers to engage in knowledge exchange and reflect on possible futures. Through the forum, participants will have the opportunity to learn, share insights and experiences and propose potential actions to take this forward and find relevant solutions leading to a culturally rich, healthier and happier society.
