Project Title: Triq is-Sebgħa
Allocated funds: €50,000
A drama series made up of seven short films. Each of the films deals with a protagonist (or more) who lives in Triq is-Sebgħa and explores one of the seven deadly sins as a theme. What links all the films, apart from the location and subject matter, is the fact that Take2 will be following the ritual whereby a statue of the Holy Mary is passed on from household to household, week after week. Each time the statue enters a particular home it will follow the story of those characters. Characters from different films will cross each other's paths, so while someone could be a leading protagonist in one story, the same person could become a secondary or background character in the next. The project was created in the context of a writer’s room, whereby writers and aspiring writers got together to create stories, explore themes and develop ideas. Hence, ideas where workshopped thoroughly in a group and although each writer was assigned a particular film, the stories were enriched by the contribution of the group.

Project Title MUŻA (Working title)
Allocated funds: €28,000
The inauguration of MUŻA - Malta’s National Community Art Museum - in November 2018 spearheaded the transformation of a traditional museum institution into a community resource. The MUŻA experience is a journey through a tetralogy of 4 chapters which can be experienced both in isolation and in conjunction with one another. The 4 chapters narrate Malta’s historical itineraries through the national collection. The chosen selections and sub sections were meticulously addressed not only by a curatorial team but also by the public who was involved in the concept development from the early stages of the project. MUŻA puts the visitor at the centre and aims to reveal meanings and relationships, thus enhancing understanding. This project will be reflecting and respecting the curatorial process. Its documentary will be split into four 35-minute chapters, each of which narrates Malta’s historical itineraries through the national collection. Each episode will see the host of the documentary, the key expert and a member of the general public experience MUŻA for the first time. By means of this process, the project will be creating better visibility, giving more accessibility and seeking to empower access whilst respecting MUŻA’s 3 distinct values: history, society and identity. Maltese composer Jes Grixti will be producing original compositions for this project. The encounter of the composer with the works of art will also be filmed and used for marketing purposes.
