The final ACM Webinar in this 2022 series will turn our attention to international cultural relations, networking, mobility and geopolitical contexts affecting international cultural cooperation.
The discussion will be based on the idea of building trust and understanding with other countries through culture. This webinar shall explore the various initiatives, complexities, challenges and opportunities that exist, especially when it comes to working with countries in Africa and the Middle East.
The webinar will feature international speakers who will be exploring these issues in light of their own work and experiences, followed by interventions and questions from the audience.

Andrew Manning
Andrew Manning is currently the Director of EUNIC, the network of European Union National Institutes for Culture. EUNIC brings together 38 members across all EU member states as well as a global network of 136 EUNIC clusters around the world were EUNIC members engage in locally driven collaborative projects. Anchored in the cultural relations approach, EUNIC’s mission is to build trust and understanding between the people of Europe and the rest of the world through culture, and to make culture count in international relations. Since 2017 EUNIC has been an official partner to the EU in the field of Culture in External Relations. Recent research and actions of the EUNIC network includes topics such as the role of cultural relations in building peace and stability, in sustainable development, in freedom of artistic expression and in striving for equitable fair collaboration.
Prior to EUNIC Andrew was the Secretary General of the European Concert Hall Organisation and International Advisor for the Nordic Region at BOZAR, the Centre for Fine Arts in Brussels. Previous experience also includes being the Head of Arts of the British Council in France, as well as roles within the British Council in Brussels and the BBC in London. A dual Belgian-British Citizen based in Brussels for the past decade working on European cultural cooperation and cultural relations, Andrew has a degree in Modern Languages from the University of Oxford and has previously served as a member of the Governance Committee of the International Society for the Performing Arts.

Patrick Sam
Patrick Sam is a Namibian thought leader, born and raised in a marginalised community in Namibia. Mr. Sam is currently an Honorary Member of the National Arts Council of Namibia (NACN), following a six-year stint as Chairperson between 2016 and 2022. He is the Chair of the African Chapter of the International Federation of Arts Councils & Cultural Agencies (IFACCA) and represents the African member states on the IFACCA Board. As the Founder of the Art Summit of Southern Africa (ASSA) he advocates for significant investment in the Cultural & Creative Sectors.
He is a professional international development consultant, broadcasting journalist and arts activist. As a Fulbright Scholar, he completed his MA in International Education Development from Columbia University.
Marina Barham
Marina Barham, cofounder, General Director of Al-Harah Theater, President of the Palestinian Performing Arts Network from 2019-2021, Vice President of Euromedinculture Network and TAMASI Collective in the MENA Region. An active cultural operator in Palestine, the Middle East and in Europe since 1998. A Fellow of ISPA & Salzburg Global Seminar. IETM Global Connector 2021.
A Trainer in the field of Cultural Management in the Arab World since 2006 with Al Mawred Resource, Tamasi Collective and Goethe Institute in Berlin and in Palestine. A speaker at several International conferences, festivals & events.
Taught two modules at the King Hasan 11 for Master Degree students in Cultural policy and Management in 2019 and 2021 with Al Mawred Resource. Produced many theater productions for the last 23 years. Managed several international, regional & local tours & Euro Med Projects. Curated Palestine International Theater Festival for Children and Youth, Yalla Yalla Street Festival, & Bethlehem Site-Specific Theatre Festival in Palestine.
