Just Another Recon Mission (JARM) is a 2D puzzle platformer. The setting is a space exploration mission that takes the protagonist on a recon mission on an unexplored planet; another regular mission in line with her duties. During the course of the mission she discovers an item that will eventually allow her to cross to another dimension which looks like a ‘backstage’ for the ‘regular’ level. In this alternative dimension, she finds that she can change the behaviour of objects in her ‘normal’ world. The player will have to cross between the two dimensions to solve puzzles and progress to further levels. Apart from the levels that comprise the main story, the players will be able to design their own levels through an in-game level editor, which they will be able to share with other players.
In the not so distant future, humanity is changing, thanks to the influence of technology and natural events. ‘Witness’, the mute child of an immigrant, was one of the first that showed a greater sensitivity than most other humans and was very quickly taken into custody and trained to hone these extended senses. After fifteen years imprisoned in a lab, an accident devastates the only people Witness knew and the programme is shut down.
Years later, as a top criminal profiler, Witness is woken up by an early call, there’s a terrible crime scene and Witness has been asked for by the Commissioner herself to investigate. This crime scene is unlike anything ever seen before, blood and tissue is splattered all over. Witness sets to work, slowly feeling the room, looking through clues and seeing the events unfold embodying the perpetrator. Something is not right, everything makes sense, yet something is wrong – was this all staged?
