Arts Council Malta is recruiting a Senior Officer - Creative Broker to join their team.

Qualifications & Experience Required:

o In possession of a Masters degree at MQF Level 7, or an appropriate, recognised comparable qualification in Cultural Management, Communications, Cultural Studies, History of Art or relevant areas, plus one (1) years relevant work experience.

OR

o In possession of a Bachelor’s qualifications at MQF Level 6, or an appropriate, recognised, comparable qualification in Cultural Management, Communications, Cultural Studies, History of Art, or relevant areas, plus two (2) years relevant work experience.

AND MUST HAVE

o Superb writing and verbal communication skills in both Maltese and English.

o Knowledge of and interest in the cultural and creative sectors 

o Knowledge and ability to work in a fully computerised environment producing a variety of documents including statistical and graphical reports;

o Excellent networker; 

o General awareness of office procedures and business writing skills;

o Strong organisational and administrative skills and attention to detail;

o Excellent interpersonal skills and customer service skills;

o Demonstrated ability to observe and acquire new skills pertaining to external and internal communication skills;

o A creative mindset and the ability to work well under pressure, completing tasks efficiently, and handling tight deadlines; 

o A commitment to customer service and quality management.

Competencies:

  • To disseminate information on national funding and investment programmes to operators in the sectors including media promotion of ACM initiatives.

  • To act as the ACM's client intermediaries, meeting stakeholders, follow up on project and organisational support requirements and needs of stakeholders and generally act as the direct service providers towards the various needs of the sectoral stakeholders for which the ACM is responsible.

  • To interact directly with artists, arts organisations, creative professionals and other stakeholders via phone, the internet, email, or in-person and to address directly their individual business/developmental issues and support them with any queries that are forwarded to the Council.

  • To document all queries and recommendations on the ACM database.

  • To refer any queries, projects and ideas discussed during brokerage sessions to ACM staff or 3 parties and follow up accordingly.

  • To carry out in-depth discussions with individual operators so that there is a greater understanding of the needs and operations of the particular creative and cultural sectors.

  • To facilitate networking amongst cultural professionals and broker communication with national agencies supporting business development.

  • To ensure that artists and other creative professionals know about specific opportunities for exposure and/or growth.

  • To draft correspondence, reports and minutes.

  • To participate in networking sessions organised by the Council or other entities.

  • Other duties as assigned.

Consultation

  • The Executive Team of the ACM.

  • The management and marketing teams of the Public Cultural Organisations and the representatives of CCS constituted bodies and associations.

  • Communications Co-ordinator or the equivalent of the Ministries responsible for culture and industry.

  • The media.

  • To carry out other duties as assigned.

 

Self Improvement

  • Acts to be well informed and up-to-date on current and emerging industry and sectoral policy and industry development programmes in respect of CCS, current IP matters and the techniques used to gain maximum public relations benefits.

  • To undertake cultural leadership and management training within the context of a Continuous Professional Development Programme agreed with the Director (Strategy), with a focus on communication tools and techniques.

 

Abnormal Working Conditions

  • Ability to work under pressure.

  • Occasionally will be required to work late or on weekends to meet deadlines or due to specific PR events.

 

The chosen candidate will be offered a one-year contract renewable after one year with a basic salary of 21,254 euros per annum (Grade 6 of ACM Salary and Grading), reaching a maximum salary of 23,936 euros per annum.
