The Legal and Finance Grant is open to applicants who have not benefitted from ACM funding Schemes in the past three years (2024 – 2026). Applicants must be Maltese citizens, or be in possession of a Maltese residence permit, a Maltese citizenship certificate, or a Maltese passport.

Applicants must fall within one of the following categories:

• Creative professionals/individual artists;

• Entities registered with the Malta Business Registry (including companies, partnerships, foundations, and organisations/associations);

• Registered cooperatives;

• Voluntary organisations enrolled with the Commissioner for Voluntary Organisations that carry out an economic activity within the meaning of Article 107 TFEU.

The grant is open to applicants that are deemed as undertakings and that carry out an economic activity within the meaning of Article 107 TFEU. Assistance will be awarded in line with the de minimis regulation. Kindly refer to Section 9 of these guidelines for additional information.

Legal and professional advice will also strengthen the company’s capacity to work responsibly within international co-productions. By embedding these practices at an early stage, Skorba aims to create a working culture based on transparency, equitable treatment, artistic freedom and respect for artists’ rights. The project will reduce professional and financial risk while providing a sustainable foundation for the company’s development and contribution to Malta’s independent audiovisual sector.

To optimize its administration and long-term sustainability, the Storm Petrel Foundation is updating its Statute. Key changes include expanding the Board of Administrators from four members to seven and creating an independent, three-member Supervisory Council. Aided by the legal services of Ganado Advocates, the Foundation is set on establishing a robust administrative framework. The amended Statute will be published in the records of Not. Luca Burlo’ and will then be submitted to all relevant authorities, that is, the Registrar for Legal Persons and the Commissioner for Voluntary Organisations. The names of the new administrators will be submitted to the Registrar for Beneficial Owners through the appropriate forms.

This project aims to strengthen the legal and professional framework underpinning my practice as an artistic director and curator working in public art, street art and cultural projects.

Following a major public-art festival involving local and international artists, the project will address gaps identified in contractual arrangements, intellectual property, artists’ rights, professional responsibilities and future project governance.

Qualified legal expertise will be engaged to review and formalise my professional engagement, develop appropriate artist and curatorial agreements, clarify rights and responsibilities, and establish practical mechanisms for reducing professional and financial risk.

The project will contribute to a more sustainable and professionally secure curatorial practice, while supporting fairer and clearer working relationships between artists, curators and cultural organisations.
