Arts Council Malta is curating Rockestra: The Evolution,
Rockestra: The Evolution celebrates the visual legacy of one of Malta’s most distinctive live music events through the work of the professional photographers who have documented it over the years.
The exhibition will trace Rockestra’s evolution through images that reflect its energy, scale, artistry, audiences and defining moments, creating a visual record of its journey from its beginnings to the present day.
The exhibition will be held at MFCC on the night of Rockestra, forming part of the audience experience as guests make their way into the show.
Who Can Submit
Photographers who have photographed any past edition of Rockestra are invited to submit a selection of their work for consideration.
Each photographer may submit up to 10 photographs of their choice. Photographs may capture performances, artists, musicians, backstage moments, audiences, production, atmosphere or other moments that help tell the story of Rockestra and its evolution.
Submission does not guarantee inclusion in the final exhibition. Arts Council Malta will curate the final selection from all photographs received.
Participation Fee
Photographers whose work is selected for the exhibition will receive a €100 participation fee.
As Rockestra is held in aid of the Malta Community Chest Fund Foundation, selected photographers may choose to waive their participation fee and donate their contribution to charity.
Printing and Exhibition
Arts Council Malta will take care of the printing and mounting of all selected photographs.
If a photograph requires a particular printing method, format, crop, finish or any other special consideration, this should be clearly highlighted when submitting the work. Arts Council Malta will take these requirements into consideration when preparing the final exhibition.
Following the Rockestra show, the physical prints will be given to the respective photographers.
Submission Requirements
All photographs must be submitted in full resolution and at the highest available quality, suitable for large format professional printing.
Each submission should include:
- Photographer’s full name
- Contact details
- Up to 10 full resolution photographs
- The year or edition of Rockestra during which each photograph was taken, where known
- Any relevant information or context relating to the photograph
- Any specific printing, cropping or presentation requirements
- Confirmation that the photographer holds the necessary rights to the submitted photographs
The copyright and ownership of all submitted photographs remain with the photographer. Submission grants Arts Council Malta permission to reproduce selected photographs specifically for the purposes of the Rockestra: The Evolution exhibition and its related promotion, with appropriate photographer credit.
