Arts Council Malta in New York has been recently elected a full member of the EUNIC New York cluster during the EUNIC NY cluster 44th meeting. EUNIC is the network of European National Institutes of Culture and national bodies engaged in cultural and related activities beyond their national borders. EUNIC brings together organisations from all 28 EU member states and adds value through its global network of clusters. By pooling together the resources and expertise of its members and carrying out joint work on common areas of interest, EUNIC is a recognised partner of the EU and its stakeholders in defining and implementing European policy on culture inside and outside the EU.

In May 2016, Arts Council Malta officially participated in its first EUNIC New York cluster events with the  animation entitled The Bench. Directed by Claudia Chircop, this was presented at the 2nd edition of Animated Spirits: European Animated Short Film Festival in New York on May 4th at the Austrian Cultural Forum and May 5th at the Hungarian Consulate General. Arts Council Malta also premiered the film Simshar, during the Panorama Europe Film Festival at the Museum of Moving Image (MOMI) in New York and on the 19th May at the Bohemian National Hall, both followed by a Q&A session with the director of the film Rebecca Cremona.
