The potential of creative expression in fostering social and cultural change and regeneration has been shown and proven in a number of contexts, including those characterised by socially challenging environments, poverty, and exclusion. This understanding is the basis for The President\u2019s Fund for Creativity.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
The programme provides recognition and support at the highest level of the State to exciting initiatives built on the values of equity, diversity, inclusiveness, and sustainability, in the sector of Culture and the Arts and in the Social Sector respectively \u2013 especially those working with disadvantaged groups, to engage the groupsin creativity and arts-driven projects and increase their level of integration and engagement in society.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
The President\u2019s Fund for Creativity is linked to the implementation of Arts Council Malta\u2019s ongoing strategy \u2013 with a particular focus on championing cultural rights and providing further opportunities for people to engage in creative expression.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
The Programme is specifically linked to important priorities articulated in the Council\u2019s ongoing strategy, namely \u2013 to invest in:
\u2022 A wider spectrum of quality work that inspires community cultural exchange and engages with a broader range of people \u2013 both as participants and audience
\u2022 Artists and organisations that promote cultural diversity and address cultural inclusion and accessibility
\u2022 Championing cultural rights.
The Fund forms part of our funding programmes for community exchange, which aim at investing in:
\u2022 Increased cultural participation across Malta and Gozo
\u2022 Better understanding and engagement between artists and communities
\u2022 More diversity in cultural programming
\u2022 More importance devoted to a culture that is much more representative of Maltese society in general
\u2022 Sustainable development. <\/p>\n\n\n\n
The President\u2019s Fund for Creativity aims at:
\u2022 Supporting organisations and institutions that target the social needs and well-being of the community, especially disadvantaged and hardly-reached groups \u2013 with a special emphasis on children, youth, senior citizens, hardly-reached groups, disabled people, people with different ethnic backgrounds \u2013 through cultural participation and creative expression
\u2022 Providing disadvantaged groups with accessibility to a wide range of quality art experiences and art-engagement activities, as well as acting as a platform for young promising talent and intergenerational as well as intercultural dialogue
\u2022 Incentivising the contribution of organisations active in the arts and culture sector towards community development and collaborative arts projects.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
The Programme is divided into two strands: The President\u2019s Fund for Creativity is one of a series of initiatives aimed at strengthening inclusivity, community development and well-being through cultural participation and creative expression. Strand 2 | Projects \/ Programmes<\/strong>
Strand 2 is aimed at supporting projects or programmes that target the aims of The President\u2019s Fund for Creativity, as established earlier on in Section 1 of the Guidelines and Regulations. The application may seek support for a pilot initiative, or for the development of an initiative that the Organisation has already tried and tested.
