Project Title: Skyship Horizon
Amount awarded: €41,536.
Skyship Horizon is a visually rich, culturally grounded animated series that reimagines Malta’s architectural heritage, spiritual history, and cultural psyche through speculative worldbuilding.
Set on the monolithic Menhir, two opposing cultures exist in tension. Above, the order-bound skyfaring society of Caelium Prime thrives within a rigid tradition of control and continuity. Far below, in the Earthbound caves, nomadic tribes follow mystic paths through a realm of resonance — a Hypogean world shaped by Malta’s megalithic legacy. The series explores themes of exile, technological ambition, ancestral memory, and reconciliation — echoing both Maltese and broader European tensions between heritage and modernity. Blending mythology, Maltese design, and real-time animation, the story follows a girl who unwittingly awakens a sentient skyship. Bound by resonance but never chosen, she becomes the missing link in a broken system. Skyship Horizon is a poetic reflection on identity, legacy, and what remains when harmony is lost.
