The seventh edition, held during the tenth anniversary of the Arts Council Malta, reaches a record 600 nominations

Arts Council Malta (ACM), under the patronage of the Ministry for Culture, Lands and Local Government, has announced the winners of the 2025 Arts Awards.

This year’s edition also marks an important milestone, having reached a total record of 600 nominations—the highest number since the Awards were established.

Winners were announced across 14 competitive categories, while seven honorary titles were presented to individuals and organisations whose long-term contributions have shaped Malta’s cultural landscape. A public vote was also used in four categories, attracting 2,100 votes—an amount that reflects the growing engagement of audiences in the Awards process.

The Minister for Culture, Lands and Local Government, Owen Bonnici, praised the diversity and volume of nominations, noting that this year’s edition represents the largest Arts Awards to date. “This is a clear sign of an artistic ecosystem that is expanding and becoming increasingly inclusive, continuously developing new talent and ideas. The strong response we have seen this year shows how deeply rooted the arts are within our communities and reflects our electoral commitment to widening access and creating more opportunities across the country.”

“Our work will continue to be guided by the long-term cultural goals outlined in Vision Malta 2050, which will lead us to strengthen the structures that support artists, cultural organisations, and creative practitioners at every level,” Minister Bonnici added.

Dr Luke Dalli, Executive Charmain of Arts Council Malta, emphasised the role of the Awards in raising professional standards within the sector. “The Arts Awards continue to encourage artists and organisations to strive for excellence. This year’s strong response shows a sector that is maturing, investing in its craft, and adopting a more professional approach to creation and collaboration. As ACM celebrates its first ten years, we remain committed to supporting this momentum and ensuring that quality remains the benchmark for the sector.”

ACM congratulates all nominees and winners who contributed to this unprecedented edition. The full list of winners is available below.
